I have been spending a little more time in Bristol recently. It’s such a fantastic city. My grandfather used to work in the harbourside during the war so the steam cranes and warehouses would all have been there. It’s been completely redeveloped now of course but I do think of him working there all those years ago.
I waited for over an hour for the sun to set behind Brunel’s SS Great Britain but it was a disappointment. The clouds moved away just at the critical time. The image really lacked a foreground. Then just as I was packing up the Narrow Boat came into view and turned right in front of me. It gave me just enough time to move around and to catch the end of the clouds and the dusk light. I’ve added a graduated filter in post processing and a tiny bit of colour.
